Meat and Livestock Australia market reporter, Graeme Richard said numbers jumped after rain last week disrupted the sale.
Lamb quality was mixed a with plenty of lighter and plainer lambs penned and that they were more suited to light export or restockers.
Trade and heavy lambs were well supplied but extra heavy lambs were in short supply.
All the usual buyers returned to the larger sale and prices lifted by $6 to $10/head across most of the lambs categories.
New season store lambs sold from $106 to $145 and shorn new season lambs reached $168/head.
New-season trade weights to 24kg sold from $186 to $212 and heavy weights reached $239/head with most averaging between 840c and 860c/kg cwt.
Shorn new season trade lambs sold from $176 to $224 or 840c to 890c/kg cwt while lambs 24 to 26kg ranged from $220 to $238/head.
The heavy lambs weighing more than 26kg made $220 for old lambs and to a top of $265/head for shorn new season lambs and averaged from 800c to 850c/kg cwt.
Mutton numbers lifted and quality was good.
Prices also lifted in line with the extra competition. Medium weight ewes sold form $135 to $168/head. Heavy crossbred ewes made from $200 to $220 and Merinos topped at $224/head with most averaging from 660c to 700c/kg cwt.
