An afternoon thunderstorm washed out the entire evening session on day one at the Gabba, delaying Australia's innings after bowling out the tourists for 147 in their first innings.

Openers David Warner and Marcus Harris will start Australia's innings at the earlier time of 9.30am AEST as the hosts look to take further control and establish a big lead.

Despite the beautiful sunny start to the day, the Bureau of Meteorology is still forecasting a shower or two around the Gabba on Thursday with a possible storm in the afternoon or evening.
