BARWON Poll Dorset and White Suffolk Studs are aiming for cracking spring ram selling season.
The line up of 130 Poll Dorset and 50 White Suffolk rams for sale will include a mix of autumn and spring drop sires.
"Consistency is the key for our clients and that is what this draft of rams exhibits, in breed type, muscling, length and all over scale,” studs co-owner Mark Yates said.
“The season has been very generous so the rams have been able show their full potential of what the sheep meat industry needs in growth and muscling.
“Lambplan is being used extensively in the breeding program. We won't compromise on breed type and functionality of the animal.”
Ashbank411 will be the feature sire and he has another outstanding line up of rams with strong Lambplan figures and true Dorset type.
The sale will start at 1.30pm on Friday, October 14, with inspections from 9am. Landmark and Elders will be the agents.
Mark was among the buyers at the recent Australasian Dorset Championships, Bendigo, where top-end rams sold well.
The Jackson stud ram that won supreme Poll Dorset exhibit at Adelaide Royal Show was knocked down for $16,000 in a joint purchase to Mark and Daryl Dixon, Ashbank stud, Dubbo.
Mr Dixon said he was impressed by the ram’s conformation.
“It’s well-balanced, is excellent on its feet, and is beautifully filled out in its hindquarters,” he said.
